[Intro]
If ya lookin’ for a good time in Botany Bay
They say, Kings Cross will light the way
The women are pretty and the beer pulls slow
Those Hoochi-Gucci gals can really put on a show
And at the Velvet Rose, they say, love grows!
[Chorus]
Oh, Hoochi-Gucci Mama it’s a, Kings-cross summa’
Been up Darling-hurst Road chasin’ tail like a baller
I’m the Front Row Beau at the Black Pony Show
They call me Uncle Joe, oh, I love real slow
Yeah, they say love grows at the Velvet Rose
By Sydney’s bay, red, lights the way!
[Bridge]
Oh, they say love grows, at the Vel-vet Rose…
The ladies are pretty, the beer pulls slow…
And those show girls, go-go, go!

[Verse]
If ya lookin’ for a good time the Aussie Way
The street lights of Kings Cross always show the way
The vibes are friendly and the liquor flows
Gucci Mamas on stage let you know they know
Cause at the Velvet Rose, they say, love grows!

[Verse]
If you’re a front-row beau, at the Black Pony Shows
The ladies drizzle like honey, a bar stool hero knows
At Kings Cross Tavern or Room Twenty Two
A Potts-point crawler always knows what to do
[Outro]
The darlings of Darlinghurst always know you know
They show girls of the Cross, and always go-go, go!
