A fun, high-energy tribute song to 18th Century British Royal Navy officer, explorer, and cartographer Captain James Cook (1728-1779) and his loving wife, Elizabeth Batts Cook (1742- 1835). Written and produced by Strike Writer. Among Cook’s many discoveries was the long-fabled Terra Australis (Australia), New Zealand, the Hawaiian Islands, New Caledonia, South Sandwich Islands, Norfolk Island, parts of the Cook Islands, and many more places not previously charted. Cook was killed in a confrontation with native Hawaiians at Kealakekua Bay on 14 February 1779. Cook’s Coat of Arms carries the Latin phrases Circa Orbem (Around the globe) and Nil Intentatum Reliquit (He left nothing unattempted).

[Intro]
From the Gulf of Saint Lawrence to the distant Isles
Captain James Cook racks up the nautical miles
Not a river boat man I need a ship to sail
Come squall come gale come ice or hail
Oh…. oh, come ice or hail
[Pre Chorus]
The water’s just right, let’s dance tonight
The rhythm guides me like a stars so bright…
From New Found Land to Botany Bay
This captain always finds his way
At sea…
[Chorus]
Lizzy my darling I’m off again
I may be back but I don’t know when
Stranger tides are calling my name
The charted world is fine but it’s all the same
♪
[Bridge]
I leave nothing unattempted as I circle the globe
I’ll never know what I don’t KNOW!
So plot a new course to a distant place
We’ll step onto the beach like an alien race
[Verse]
The savage seas try to trim my sail
But I’m here to dance, and tell my tail
I’m charting a course like in seventy one
I’m here to party, I’m here to have fun
[Pre Chorus]
The cannon shot is like a siren’s call
This land’s too sturdy for me
I plant my flag on foreign lands
I’ll conquer every sea
Give me one more dance, just give me a chance
I need one more journey please!
[Chorus]
Lizzy my darling I’m off again
I may be back but I don’t know when
Stranger tides are calling my name
The charted world is fine but it’s all the same

[Outro]
I’ve seen Venus transit the Sun
From all I’ve seen you’re still number one
I’ll meet my fate on a distant strait
Please save this last dance
For me…
